Shawl in Time for Vegas

I've been hiding away in my house since Friday when i stared working on a shawl for the up coming Vegas trip. I've had the yarn for a month or so and just hadn't made the time to just sit there and pay attention while i knit the darn thing. I'd stopped and started, along with literally "cutting" my losses and throwing away a panel that i just couldn't salvage. Finally all of my hardwork has paid off and here is the shawl! More pictures of the shawl will be taken in Vegas, and it needs to be blocked...but i'm super excited with how it turned out.

Viola! A Pair of Socks!

Pattern went pretty good. I found that i wasn't decreasing properly for the arch, and it's 'a bit tight. Easy to to follow instructions from the pattern.

I think i caught sock fever! I've already got more yarn then patterns to knit up. I'm really diggin how fast these went, must try some lighter weight yarn.

The pattern is coming out nice, and is preparing me for the infinite slip stitch of the heel. I'm nervous, but everyone keeps telling me it will be easy, so i'm nearly convinced.

New Beginnings

I have found the world of Audiobooks. VERY exciting! I've been hooked on my podcasts for awhile, but this opens a whole new realm of things to do whole knitting. The best part is it allows me to combine two of my favorite things into one activity. Knitting + Reading = Time well spent. Right now the skirt has taken me through half of Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman.

I am very proud to say that the skirt is nearly done. I have two more rounds, which is no small feat when you're talking about nearly 200 stitches, which i'm hoping to finish today between projects. Tomorrow on the way to a fun trash event at a friends i will stop by the fabric store and pick up the elastic, and then finish off the skirt when i get home. The skirt MUST be worn within 72 hours of completion, so everyone please think of sunny skies.

Last night was a "what can i start next" type of evening. I knit up a swatch in the new yarn, Rush, i bought last week to wash test for (fingers crossed) a short sleeve raglan light sweater. I found this beautiful cotton yarn at Artfibers. It's beautiful!

Also the VERY first pair of socks was started. I'm trying the 2-at-a-time magic loop method. I think i'm a perfect canidate for second sock syndrome so i was looking for a way to get them both done at once, and double point needles seem to hate me. They have destroyed bags and other objects as they make their way to and from bart each day. The socks are being done in the yarn i bought at Color a few weekends ago. Great stuff, and i love blue!

Running Sky

And, if all that wasn't enough i made some large stitch holders with silver stars for the Camo blanket that i'm working on, pictures to come. I they came out great! More stitch holders on the way. I must make something for my Etsy shop ; )

Skirt Madness, and the aftermath...

Well i can proudly say that the skirt is NEARLY done. I've been super busting my ass lately and it's really paying off. I've got about 8 more pattern rows and then 8 bottom boarder rows. I'm shooting to have it finished by the end of the week so that i can get elastic and completely finish it off over the weekend.

Unfortunately work has been trying to thwart my efforts to finish the skirt by giving me tons to do. I do not like this sam i am! But it paid for the yarn, so no real complaints. Work has to be done by close of business tomorrow, so tomorrow will be typing, typing, and making a few screen shots here and there and trying to emailed advice from my boss about what he "wants". This may sound easy, but it's not, especially when the boss is on the other side of the states at a conference all week. Arg! Oh well. Here i come better judgment.

I'm really liken how the skirt is turning out. I can't wait to start the first pair of socks and get back to my vegas shawl in the coming weeks. Also looking at a pair of legwarmers (damn i need to show T patterns). It will be nice to knit something for someone else, it's been awhile with Christmas having been such a bust. Look out skirt...this is your week! : )
